1st World War Memorial
The simple, Great War Memorial Plaque remembers the shocking number of 85 men from Melbourne who died in the First World War.
Below this their names and ranks are listed on an attractively coloured Roll of Honour.
Above these are the Flags of the Royal British Legion, Melbourne Branch and the Union Jack.
The men are also commemorated on the stone War Memorial Cross outside the Church in Church Square.
Also remembered is Guardsman D. N. Blinco (Grenadier Guards) 1993.
Daniel Blinco was brought up in Melbourne where his parents ran the Crew & Harpur pub (now closed). He joined the army and was in Northern Ireland when he was shot dead at the age of 22 by an IRA sniper on 30th December 1993, whilst on patrol in Crossmaglen, Armagh.
His funeral was held at St Michael's Church where his coffin was carried by members of his patrol on the night of his death, with over 70 other Guardsmen attending.
