William & Ann Cantrell

The Cantrell's who lived at Kings Newton, a mile from Melbournewere an ancient Derbyshire family and had lived there for 500 years. 
Rev. William Cantrell was born in 1772, the son of Hugh and Mary Cantrell and the younger brother of Joseph Cantrell (see Joseph & Elizabeth Cantrell). 
In 1808 he married Ann Smith the daughter of Joseph Smith of Casterton in Westmorland, Vicar of Alvaston, Boulton and Stapleford
In 1811 he was appointed Vicar of Thrumpton, near Nottingham and the couple lived at Alveston Field where they had a daughter, Anne
Ann died, aged 79, at Alveston Field in 1852. William died in 1856.
